Essential Oils have absolutely changed my life! When I first began using them, I fell in love them and just wanted to purchase them at a discount, maybe if I was lucky, get them for free. I had no idea that I would be teaching others how to become empowered in their health and wellness through the use of essential oils. I had no idea, I would be able to reclaim my livelihood though them. None. As a health and wellness professional, I have found it my calling to share this passion with others. In the past three years my entire world has been flipped upside down, and let me tell you, this side is better than I could have ever imagined. I work with some of the most amazing men and women, worldwide. Strength, passion, vitality, and drive, it can be found in the people I work with. All this was spurred by one single droplet…
What Are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. If you have ever enjoyed the gift of a rose, a walk by a field of lavender, or the smell of fresh cut mint, you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils provide plants with protection against predators and disease and play a role in plant pollination. Essential oils are all natural, meaning our bodies are well equipped to utilize them effectively. Bottom line, essential oils are a safe, inexpensive, and an effective means of support. When using the highest quality, pure essential oils, they be used aromatically, topically, or internally. They are also super easy to use! My all-time favorite resource for tips on how to use essential oils is in a handy reference guide. Drop me a line if you’d like to know my favorite one! It has everything you could ever want to know about how to use them, everywhere from the oils, what to use them for, and how to use them, plus it is super easy to navigate! Why Quality Matters
One mistake I made when I first started using essential oils was assume that as long as the label stated it was a pure essential oil, I was in the clear. I want you to learn from my mistakes!
Using a high quality essential oil is something that I can not stress enough!
It is important to know what is in the bottle of oil you are using. It is not only a purity thing, but it is also for safety. Over the past few years I have experienced and seen why this is so important. In a vein attempt to be “thrifty” I purchased a lot of my oils at discount prices initially. I didn’t think this was a big deal since I didn’t understand how powerful essential oils are. I have found ones that I like and some, well, some that absolutely were not what they said they were. My attempt to save a few bucks ended up completely backfiring as many of those oils have since found their way to the trash bin.
I have seen first hand instances where some companies aren’t even aware of what they selling. Something I had never even considered. I have also seen companies get caught outright adulterating their oils (adding stuff that isn’t the intended oil in with it).
When I purchase an oil directly from the company, I trust them. I trust that they oversee their testing, that they know the distillers, have seen where the plants are grown, and know what is in the bottle. I’m not saying this to scare you, but to drive home how important it is to trust the company you get your oils from. This is why I have taken great care in selecting where to get my oils.
Does your company test?
How many tests are performed?
Is every single liter tested?
Are the test performed in independent laboratories that hold no bias?
Do you know where the plants are grown and how they are harvested?
Are they grown indigenously (where they are actually native to)?
Are they exposed to pesticides or other chemicals and toxins?
Is the company you getting your oil from committed to the point that they would rather not carry an oil than offer a lower-quality batch?
I make sure I know that every bottle I open will be the same high quality as the bottle before. When I first started using essential oils, I didn’t realize what a big deal quality really is. I can not emphasize this enough, quality matters. Big time.
